We currently have several Flemish studios looking for a co-founder. Some studio names have not been mentioned intentionally

If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with one of the studios, feel free to contact michiel@flandersgamehub.be.

Opportunity #1: Anaxanthia

I'm on the lookout for a cofounder to join me in Anaxanthia.

Somebody with a couple of years experience in a lead role and strong interest in being involved on producer/team lead, game design and business development side. As we're tiny, hands-on contributing is crucial.

We're a fully remote team of 2 at the moment. I'm the sole founder, I have 20 years of experiencludue in IT in an owner/leadership role, now 4 years in games. Day-to-day my own focus is mostly on hands-on development and game design. I am basically looking for a partner in crime, to define and implement a vision for both games and studio and work together closely on a day-to-day basis.

Our current project - Last 4 Days - is a turn-based tactics x base building game, built in Unity. We're at the end of the vertical slice stage, but not yet funded for production. I believe the who to be more important than the what, so I'm open to discuss anything.

Opportunity #2: StageVFX | Co-founder Programmer

Role: Technical Co-Founder / Principal Unreal Engine 5 Programmer (Belgium)

StageVFX is developing a real-time visuals platform designed to make high-end interactive visuals accessible to a broader demographic of performers and creators across the live entertainment industry. The software translates live performance inputs: including audio, MIDI, OSC, DMX and other control signals — into reactive visuals that can be used in rehearsals, clubs, stages, and touring setups.

We currently have a documented alpha with base functionality implemented. As a technical co-founder, you will take ownership of the platform’s technical direction and architecture, expanding it into a stable beta and preparing the foundation for scalability, future features, and production use.

This is explicitly a co-founder position with substantive strategic responsibility, not a traditional employee role.

We are currently operating with limited funding and compensation, with clear scaling after financing and production milestones.

What you’ll own
  • Technical architecture and long-term technical direction of the platform
  • Core systems development in Unreal Engine 5 (C++)
  • Engine customization/extension where required (including plugin work)
  • Performance, stability, and scalability (including low-spec optimization)
  • Build pipelines, CI, packaging, and platform-specific constraints
  • Licensing foundations and release-readiness mindset (beta stability, tooling, reliability)
  • Close collaboration with the team to keep systems clean, modular, and show-ready
  • Support in creating custom shows and feature expansions as the product grows
Requirements
  • Strong professional experience with Unreal Engine 5 (C++)
  • Solid understanding of real-time rendering and performance constraints
  • Experience extending or modifying engine-level systems
  • Familiarity with build systems/CI and packaging workflows
  • High standards for precision, performance, and system stability
  • Independent ownership mindset + strong communication
  • Based in Belgium
Nice to have
  • Low-end hardware optimization experience
  • Familiarity with Unreal source builds
  • Interest in music / performance tech / entertainment
  • Experience with audio analysis, MIDI, OSC, DMX / ArtNet
  • JUCE knowledge
What you get
  • True co-founder ownership and influence on product and studio direction
  • Small initial cash compensation (pre-funding), increasing after financing / production milestones.
  • Meaningful co-founder equity stake with standard vesting. Exact split depends on scope and time commitment.
  • Creative and technical freedom in a high-ambition project
  • Direct impact on a product built for real-world performance environments

Opportunity #3 Technical Co-Founder (CTO-leaning) - Realm Architect

Belgium-based (strongly preferred) | Hybrid / Remote-friendly

Equity: Meaningful co-founder equity

Stage: Funded vertical slice → production & scale

Commitment: Full-time (or transition to full-time)

What is Realm Architect?

Realm Architect is building the next-generation digital tabletop platform, not just a VTT, but an onboarding-first ecosystem that lowers the barrier to tabletop role-playing games while unlocking new digital possibilities for publishers. This isn’t another “map + tokens” tool.

It’s about:

  • Guided play instead of rulebook overload
  • Digital twins of physical games
  • System-agnostic foundations
  • Tools that respect GMs, designers, and players
  • A platform mindset rather than a single game

We’ve already:

  • Secured €90K+ in public funding (VAF/Gamefonds)
  • Built a funded vertical slice
  • Raised additional capital via Kickstarter, subsidies and convertibles
  • Attracted strong interest from established publishers
  • Validated real demand for a more humane tabletop experience

Now we need to turn a strong prototype into a scalable product.

Why this role exists

Realm Architect has crossed the point where technical leadership is no longer optional. The vision is clear. The product direction is validated. Funding paths are open. What’s missing is a technical co-founder who co-owns the technical and architectural future of the company. We strongly prefer someone based in Belgium (or very nearby), not because we’re anti-remote, but because real co-foundership benefits from proximity: fast alignment, whiteboard sessions, hard conversations, and shared momentum. If not, you will be asked to travel to and from Belgium for the appropriate events

What you’ll actually do

As a technical co-founder, you will:

  • Own the technical vision
    • Architecture and platform decisions
    • Scalability and maintainability strategy
    • Build vs buy vs kill decisions
  • Take the vertical slice to production
    • Harden systems and pipelines
    • Reduce tech debt pragmatically
    • Prepare the platform for real users, not demos
  • Shape product direction
    • Translate tabletop needs into technical systems
    • Push back constructively on product ideas
    • Help decide what not to build
  • Lead and grow the technical side
    • Set engineering standards
    • Mentor future developers
    • Build a healthy, sustainable dev culture
  • Be a founder
    • Participate in strategy and (when relevant) investor conversations
    • Share responsibility for outcomes
    • Think in years, not sprints
Skillset (what matters most)

We’re not looking for a perfect checklist, but the following matters:

Strong preference:

  • Solid Unity experience
    • Shipped projects (commercial, indie, or serious prototypes)
    • Comfort owning complex Unity codebases
    • Understanding of performance, tooling, and long-term maintainability in Unity
  • Experience designing systems that evolve over time
  • Product-mindset engineering (you think beyond "does it work").
Nice To have
  • Backend or full-stack experience alongside Unity
  • Real-time, multiplayer, or collaborative systems
  • Data-driven or system-agnostic architectures
  • Experience working on platforms rather than single-use products

You don’t need to be a TTRPG expert, curiosity and respect for the domain matter more than encyclopedic rules knowledge

For who?

This is for someone who:

  • Has shipped real software and felt the consequences
  • Is comfortable making high-impact decisions with incomplete information
  • Understands that architecture serves people and product
  • Wants ownership, influence, and long-term impact
  • Who operates in teams and takes accountability.

This is not for someone who wants:

  • A neatly scoped senior dev role
  • A fixed roadmap with no ambiguity
  • Low-risk execution work
  • The lone wolves
What's in it for you?
  • True co-founder equity (not symbolic)
  • A funded project with momentum and credibility
  • Creative freedom and real responsibility
  • A founder partner who has already carried the project through its hardest phase
  • The chance to help define a new category instead of chasing one
The honest part

This is a startup. There is risk & there will be pressure.

Not everything will be clear. But if this works, your fingerprints will be everywhere.

Opportunity #4 Project: DroneTanks - stylized singleplayer roguelike (Unreal Engine 5)

Wanted profile: Co-Founder - Principal/Lead Unreal Engine Programmer (Belgium):
We are looking for a highly technical Unreal Engine 5 programmer at senior/principal level who is willing to take ownership of the entire technical architecture of the project.

The role involves designing and implementing core systems in C++, extending Unreal Engine where necessary, and setting up robust gameplay architecture including GAS, enemy AI and behaviour systems, performance optimisation and build pipelines. In addition, you will be responsible for the technical preparation of the project in terms of scalability and future multiplayer.

This is explicitly a co-founder position with substantive and strategic responsibility, not a traditional employee role. At this stage, we are working with revenue share and limited remuneration, with clear upscaling after achieving our financing and production milestones (Kickstarter after prototype).
